central to these measures is the formation of hkiff industry, a new umbrella section to oversee and coordinate hkiffs’s various industry initiatives, including the annual flagship haf (the in-development (idp) and work-in-progress (wip) programmes), haf goes to cannes, haf film lab, hkiff collection, and the facilitation of third-party co-productions. jacob wong, previously haf director, has assumed the role of director, hkiff industry.

application requirements

- a feature film project of 60 minutes or more in duration with a director, producer or producer, screenwriter and production company;

- the director of the project has directed no more than two feature-length films of 60 minutes or more;

- a production budget is available;

- the project has market potential for the asian or international market;

- it has artistic and commercial value; and

- plans for the initial stage of production.

- brief introduction of the production company (word limit: no more than 100 words in english and 150 words in chinese);

- detailed outline (word limit: no more than 1000 words in english and 2000 words in chinese);

- budget sheet (a model will be provided by the application system, please use the model to fill in the form).

- complete chinese script (electronic version only); and

- application fee.

- past works of the director (only links to movies available for viewing on the internet will be accepted. applicants may provide links to no more than 2 films, which should be valid until september 30, 2024 for online viewing);

- personal photos of the director, producer and screenwriter (file size between 1mb and 3mb); and

- concept poster (file size between 1mb and 3mb, one horizontal and one vertical).

note 1: all application forms and information submitted must be completed in both chinese and english.

note 2: there is a 5-day revision period for each project. applicants can log in to the system to fill in, revise and improve the program content and upload relevant documents. please note that applications with incomplete information will not be accepted.

note 3: selected projects will be notified in mid-july 2024 by the organizer.
