organized by the yangcheng evening news group, the “maritime guangdong” young director support program (referred to as “maritime guangdong”) opens for registration, with “going back to the small town” as the theme of the new year's short film creation recruitment, and seeks to find and support the chinese-language video new talent from all over the world.

the evaluation of the program consists of two phases: preliminary and review. the top 20 short film directors will have the opportunity to participate in the maritime short film training camp, where they will receive multi-dimensional guidance from mentors on screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and so on. after the training camp, young directors will have a more intense review session, and the final 10 selected directors will receive support funds ranging from 50,000 to 200,000 rmb provided by the yangcheng evening news group for the shooting and production of themed short films.

notes for application

1. the applicant or more than half of the co-applicants must be chinese citizens (including hong kong, macao and taiwan residents) over the age of 18 (including 18 years old) and under the age of 45 (including 45 years old), as well as overseas chinese, and the restriction may be appropriately relaxed for those who are particularly outstanding;

2. at least one directorial work, short film, feature film, commercial, web series, etc. is acceptable;

3. a short film script that meets the requirements of the annual theme and has not yet started shooting must be submitted;

4. the main filming location of the supported short film is guangdong, hong kong and macao;

5. young directors selected for the support program must commit to completing the filming and production of their short films before september 20, 2024 and obtaining the final approval of the jury. the short films should be 10-20 minutes in length, of any genre (including drama, documentary, experimental film, animation, etc., except for advertisements), and be subtitled in chinese, english, and french (with chinese subtitles inline and english and french subtitles outline);

6. applicants must agree to cooperate with the organizer for domestic and overseas promotion and screening; shortlisted applicants must participate in the entire short film camp and complete the relevant course requirements in order to be qualified for review.
